About the Initiative

Clean Cities, Clean Nation is a nationwide civic initiative driven by a bold and simple mission: to build a cleaner, greener and more liveable Malaysia through community-led environmental action.

Conceptualised over 15 years ago by Datuk Dr. Radzali Hassan, Chairman of Yayasan Modal Insan Harta, this homegrown effort calls on all Malaysians, from individuals to institutions to take collective responsibility for the spaces we live in.

This initiative aims to:

Mobilise communities, schools, local authorities and volunteers
Clean and rehabilitate streets, rivers, parks and public areas nationwide
Foster lasting behavioural change and cultivate civic pride
Support Malaysia’s broader environmental sustainability goals

While aligned with the spirit of global efforts, Clean Cities, Clean Nation is an independent, Malaysian-born initiative, rooted in our national values, local challenges and shared aspirations.

Event Highlights

Launch

The official launch of the Clean Cities, Clean Nation initiative will take place on 21st July 2025 in Penang.

This nationwide effort is focused on transforming public spaces and strengthening civic responsibility through coordinated efforts involving communities, organisations and local authorities.

Engage

The launch event will bring together changemakers from various sectors, including corporate leaders, environmental NGOs, government agencies and volunteers all committed to a cleaner Malaysia.

It serves as a platform for collaboration, shared contributions and the exchange of ideas to inspire community-wide efforts.

The initiative is designed to generate long-term value, from cleaner streets to a more engaged and empowered citizenry.
